SLICE-SEEDING:

Slice-seeding is one the most efficient methods of introducing seed to soil contact. This process of seeding allows a greater germination rate over the standard over-seeding methods. No tilling is required. No mess or mud. Slice seeding works well to fill in a thin lawn or start a new lawn from scratch.  The machine slices the ground and deposits the seed directly into the soil at ¼" to ½" deep and 1" apart. This method is recommended for:

Ø       Introducing a new species of grass to existing turf

Ø       Complete lawn renovation

Ø       New lawn establishment

Ø       Thicken lawns

OVERSEEDING:

Over-seeding is a process where grass seed is dispersed evenly over thinning parts of the lawn or over the entire lawn to thicken it. It is a more cost effective way to achieve what slice-seeding does, but is not as effective because the seeds are not being sewn into the soil. Our technicians will direct you, based on their lawn assessment, as to what is more beneficial for your individual lawn's situation.

Some of the questions we look at while assessing this are:

  1. What is the soil type?
  2. Is the soil compacted?
  3. What is the grade of your lawn (hilly)?
  4. What are the expectations of the customer?
  5. Is there a budget for lawn care?
