Lawn AerationOver time, the soil condition of your lawn can become compacted. This can occur from normal usage such as foot traffic, lawn tractors, vehicles, and even excessive watering. Aeration of lawns with compacted soil will facilitate a more efficient usage of water, fertilizer, and oxygen, which are all pertinent to a healthy lawn. Lawns are aerated by a machine specifically designed to remove plugs of soil from the lawn. This allows water, fertilizer, and oxygen to be absorbed more readily, and thus improves the health and beauty of your lawn. In addition, aeration reduces thatch, which is a layer of dead organic material. This helps to supply your lawn with valuable nutrients. Over time, this beneficial layer builds up (over ½”) and starts to cause nutrient deficiencies and a variety of other problems. There are many benefits of aeration:
Benefits of Overseeding and Aeration Together Planting additional grass seed into an existing lawn is called overseeding. Post-aeration overseeding is a great way to further enhance your lawn. The newly sewn in seeds can take advantage of the aeration process to more rapidly fill bare spots and thicken existing turf. Seeding at the time of aeration makes lawns healthier, thicker, and more durable, allowing for more activity without the usual signs of wear. Please ask our technicians for a reduced combination pricing of these two services. |
